This is the KCS Depot in DeQuincy, Louisiana. One of the great depots that had passenger and freight service. It is surrounded on 3 sides with railroad tracks. A great place of respect.
KCS 4680 west leads a Mexico bound grain train at Alice, TX. The former Texas Mexican line between Corpus Christi and Laredo is plagued with numerous grade x-ings in every town. This train had unusual 1x1 dpu set-up.

I think this is called a ballast re-conditioner or cleaner. I do know this... it is VERY noisy as it moves along the tracks. It was southbound on KCS tracks just south of the 20th St. crossing adjacent to the Dillons grocery store.
New KCS Overpass at 25th and Connecticut nearing completion. My wife's stepbrother, Brett Reeves, was engineer on the project. Connecticut Ave. is a major N-S artery in the town, and the overpass had been discussed for decades.
