EJ&E SD38-2 662, still with the J-Ball is right where it should be as it is on the point of a empty taconite train heading for Eola. The other J-balls are 650, 654, and 703.
CP SD40-2F Red Barn #9013 and a CP AC4400CW lead a westbound coal train through Coal City. CP power is rare on the Chillicothe Sub as well as Coal Trains. Seeing a CP red barn leading a coal train here is unheard of.
UP E9A 949, E9B 963, and E9A 951 head under the CNW signal bridge with a passenger special, approaching JB tower and the EJ&E diamond in West Chicago.
UP SD70ACe #8318 helps out on a eastbound manifest heading through De Kalb. Photo taken from the Baymont Inn, where one can watch trains from the comforts of home.
EJ&E SD38-2s 668 and 656 lead the JSW1 local through Plainfield, complete with a caboose, on a freezing cold day. Wind chills were 20 degrees below zero when I took this photo. Brrrr! It is always worth seeing the EJ&E, no matter how cold it is.
Yet more older power heads through Ransom past the silos. BNSF SD40-2 #7322, with one of the worst horns I have ever heard, lead a autorack along with a NS Dash 9.
Here is a very unusual paint scheme. BNSF Dash 9 #434o is half primered, half H2. Looks like it was involved in a wreck and BNSF didn\'t paint the wrecked area. I\'m glad this isn\'t the way all BNSF engines look.
