Ex-Southern & Burlington Northern (both fallen flags) coal hoppers roll under CNs banner. Theres also a large chunk of ex-CP ones in the fleet on unit trains.
Note the bent structure on the CNA (ex-SOU) hopper.
A rare SD70ACe led coal train heads west at 6:54PM on 9/28/08 definately the best catch so far this fall. A thing to note even though rare this is just proof that it is possible to catch a Heritage Unit on a coal train!
These coal hoppers have been showing up on CN through town since at least June 14th, 2008. Odd, since they have an interchange with CP. Clearly they didnt think the slogan through, as Reading & Northern is a US shortline, while I keep seeing them in Canada. Although hard to see in the...
Freshly washed CN SD40-2W leads an empty coal train solo. Sadly I didnt take car counts back then, this was a full unit train though at least 70 cars. Normally two Dash 9-44CW type engines handle the job.
This is not an April Fool's joke, the train was actually spotted on April 1st.
