This was found on a lying on a beach on Whidbey Island, WA. The wooden frame lying at an angle seems to have four flanged wheels, as well as a small winch at one end. Several rails can also be seen lying around. I have no idea what exactly this was.
Here is the crew doing their last minutes checks as the steamer is releasing steam in the usual spots near and in the cab. This was my 1st time actually chasing a steam train without the huge railfan crowds around.. What a noticable change.

#18 is giving this bridge on the Mt. Hood Railroad a good dose of thick black oily smoke as it pushes the passenger train up towards its final destination of Odell, Ore.
With two of my friends, we ended up chasing Fleming Locomotive Works #18 as it crosses the river on the Mt. Hood Railroad towards the station sign "Switchback". The steamer sounded awesome!!
Amtrak's Northbound Coast Starlight, number 14, is seen rounding the curve north of Grover Beach, CA. Three locomotives lead, all facing north for this trip.

UP # 760 sitting at the UP Mead yard on a cold wet Sunday. Power from Mead yard moves autoracks and also provides power for the local that runs to Paramount which used to be handled by the Anaheim yard.
