UP/CNW ACe 1995 and CNWs 8701 and 8646 highball through the countryside, passing the Elburn CO-OP. This was most likely my last time seeing the third engine. CNW 8646 was sent to Proviso for it's 92 day inspection, four days after this photo was taken.
Here's the lash-up that we've been waiting for! Santa Fe Warbonnet SD75M 8208, a BNSF H2 Dash 9, a BNSF H1 SD40-2 and an Oakway SD60 highball a westbound stack train through Ransom!
Triple headed steam smoking it up in action! IAIS/QJ 6988 and 7081, along with Milwaukee 261, round the curve at Tiskilwa with the Iowa Interstate excursion.
Milwaukee Road's famous sightseer #800040 brings up the rear of the Iowa Interstate excursion, which was lead by IAIS 6988, IAIS 7081 and Milwaukee 261.
CSX GP40-2 6081 heads light eastbound through Monticello to pick up some cars at nearby customers. This line is only used a few times a week as evidenced by the tracks.
Here is more of a side angle of UP SD70ACe 1988, the Katy heritage engine making only its second run ever down the Geneva Subdivison. Notice how clean the engine is since Proviso washed it.
UP SD70ACe 1988, the Katy heritage engine, and UP SD70ACe 1982, the MoPac heritage engine, lead MCBPR through Elmhurst after stopping at a red signal. 1988 kind of resembles a Dr. Pepper can. :)
This guy snuck right up on my while I was out to check signal 1893...Nothing special, just Dash-9s. Nothing wrong with that, though! Always glad to see a train. CN 2522 and 2619 rolling on into the yard.
