CTRW must be really slashing their budget...oh no wait thats not CTRW, just a foolish train fan with a buddy out to ride the rails. Of course this line is out of use with a derail set up just east of PA. It's sad that this line isn't still used, as SD40's used to run through here on they're way...
After the fire was contained, I decided to venture out to Canwood to check it out. Low and behold three elevators still stand, but the track has fallen into disrepair. This lonely sunset shot represents my feelings towards the beauty of prairie rail but also how I long of the good old days of...
This was found on a lying on a beach on Whidbey Island, WA. The wooden frame lying at an angle seems to have four flanged wheels, as well as a small winch at one end. Several rails can also be seen lying around. I have no idea what exactly this was.
Found this down at a park in Everett, WA, along the Snohomish River. Maps indicate a rail spur used to run here, and so does archeological evidence! This was one of two rails jutting out of the river bank. Other interesting artifacts such as a thick steel pipe/pole and a sunken cable lay around...

Long out-of-service, these tracks found aboard MCAS Beaufort, SC probably pre-date the air station's establishment in 1943. The rust pitting on top of the rails reveals that no wheel has rolled here in a very long time.
Long out-of-service, these tracks found aboard MCAS Beaufort, SC probably pre-date the air station's establishment in 1943. This rail's foundry markings tell part of the tale.
Long out-of-service, these tracks found aboard MCAS Beaufort, SC probably pre-date the air station's establishment in 1943. Mature trees grow thick between the rails.
Long out-of-service, these tracks found aboard MCAS Beaufort, SC probably pre-date the air station's establishment in 1943. The ties that once were below these rails have long since rotted away.
