WP unit on the Tidewater Southern

  • Photo Contests
The Tidewater Southern was a subsidiary of the WP. This picture was taken the first day after Memorial Day in Modesto California. This was an unusually long train. It ran with four units and was over 100 cars long. Normal trains were 20 to 30 cars and two units. The WP 2254 is a U23B, followed by another U23B and two GP20's. I don't remember what film I used, but if the compression of the power pools is an indication, I used my 135mm lens. Mid day sun made any 3/4 shot or broad side flat and boring.
