WP Sacramento Yard

A lot used to happen here. Two geeps would drill cars simultaneously on seperate leads for canneries and block cars for setouts while main line trains rolled by to the left side of the pic. Yard ops were marshalled from the little office. WP crews were very friendly and never tired of waving to fans watching from the overpass. cica 1979
Man does that bring back memories. A correction though, that is the yard office for the trainmaster, yardmaster and switch crews. The dispatcher was down town at the old depot, and yes they would come out and roll your train by.

Thanks for the correction, Greg. I was 7-8 when I went watching here so I try to piece together what I can remember. I do remember being here watching trains when the "Pigs Bowl" was played at the neighboring stadium. My father got to see part of the game and I got to see the trains.

Very interesting picture. Thanks for sharing. How long ago were these "good ol' days"?
