Before the activity at the Royal Gorge Route reached fever pitch, I took a moment to watch our sister railroad at work. Union Pacific 1989, the Rio Grande heritage unit, has persisted on the Parkdale to Colorado Springs rock train run by Rock and Rail, whom we share ownership of the railroad with. This makes 5-6 weeks already, which I haven’t ever seen before. And despite it all, I haven’t really taken any photos of it beyond the snow shots I took in April, and a few notable misses. But I did head out today, and managed two photo angles - one ok (I need a 10’ ladder and an earlier train to get the light better) and one that I was reasonably pleased with.
