TNER Freight southeast of Celeste Tx

TNER number 25 and 2 tank cars on the old MKT mainline near Celeste Tx in 1997. The signals were dark and the open relay cabinet was empty of components.
Ron and I were on a railfan trip when he took this picture. This is MKT's mainline from Dallas through Greenville, and this train is on the way to Denison. This shot was taken at least 8-9 years after MKT was sold, and only sees about 1 train a day or less. Sometimes they only use it approximately 3-5 days a week. Shortliner can provide more frequency info since he is in Sherman at the other end. This trackage is now switched by DGN&O, and I'm not certain what the status of TNER is at this time.

This is a main which used to have 3 passenger trains a day in each direction, and at least 4-10 freights a day, and was ABS along this entire section. The last passenger train (if memory serves me right) was 1967, and I was fortunate enough (age 14) to able to ride it.
