The Old And The New

An EMD SD70MAC, BNSF (9955), that was built in July 1998, sits idle on the house track at the Longmont, CO Depot, as newer unit BNSF 7645, a GE ES44DC, built in November 2005, is seen passing by as the lead unit on a Denver, CO to Laurel, MT manifest, (HDENLAU).

ES44AC. Yes that is a UP unit behind the SD70M. Actually there is another UP unit behind that one. The BNSF and the two UP motors are kept at Longmont for one or more days, then journey to the Xcel Energy Valmont Power Plant in Boulder to pickup empty coal cars that are interchanged with UP in Denver.
