SP Tunnel to Crocker Industrial Park

This tunnel is one of the few structures that remains of the great Southern Pacific Bayshore Rail Yard near San Francisco. The tunnel goes under Bayshore Blvd. and into the Crocker Industrial Park in Brisbane, CA. SP had a 5-mile freight spur that serviced about 15 warehouses. The tunnel was built in 1928. The rail spur was actually expanded in the 1960's. The Bayshore Yard shut down in 1982... along with this spur. The tracks were torn out in 2006 and donated to the Virginia & Truckee RR.
