Snowy Easter

Three UP SD70M's and a leaser lug CSX manifest freight Q641 up the west slope of Sandpatch Grade on a snowy and bitterly cold Easter Sunday. Having stopped a couple of miles to the rear to let the eastbound Capitol Limited pass by and crossover, these 12,000 horsies (the leaser was isolated) are clawing up the 1.5% grade which is the toughest part for eastbounds.
Just ahead lies 4,475 feet of darkness inside Sandpatch tunnel.
