Semmering Viaduct Peek

Regional train to Mrzzuschlag traversing the tallest viaduct of Semmering Railway, the Kalte Rinne Viaduct. It has two levels, the lower one is hidden behind the hill.

Do you have any photos showing both levels? I'd be interested to see how they handled that on a stone arch bridge.

OK, I see what you mean now. For some reason I thought you meant two levels of track and I was having difficulty figuring out how that would work.

What they have is two levels of viaduct, similiar to some of the old Roman viaducts. It's a traditional means of strengthing tall viaducts, and I think they even built some with 3 levels.
