Salt Creek Bridge

Southern Pacific 4-8-4 No.4449 leads a southbound excursion over Salt Creek, an arm of Lake Shasta in California, on its way to Railfair in Sacramento in 1991.
Nice shot, Steve. This area could really use a visit from Paul Bunyan.

The next year, we shot 4449 at this spot when it was going to San Jose for the NRHS convention. The lake was still dry here in 1992. I haven't seen the old Pacific highway bridge since then.

Never would have guessed that 1992 would be the last time 4449 would run on the Shasta Route...
