Lost Dreams

I was photographing trains at night in Roseville, CA when I saw this SP unit sitting under a yard light. It was not going anywhere, just sleeping the night away. I shot it with slide film. The locomotive seemed to be dreaming of better times that were promised by its paint scheme. Dreams that never became reality. Southern Pacific was never made into a high speed raceway with Santa Fe's guidence. This unit would stay dirty until it was repainted into UP Yellow, if that ever happened.

The slide was scanned and a touch of the watercolor filter in Photoshop was added to give mood to the scene.
