Shortly after sunrise on Sat July 15 Canadian Pacific Empress #2816 climbs the 2.2% "Old Line" from Lake Louise to the summit of Kicking Horse Pass at Stephen. Having spent the night on the Chalet Track at Lake Louise the 2816 has been chartered for the day by the Alpine Club of Canada to carry club members through some of the finest mountain scenery in North America. The year 2006 marks the 100th anniversary of the Alpine Club and its members will be riding the train to Glacier station in the Selkirk Mountains at Rogers Pass.
