Kaikoura Coast, New Zealand

This class of loco was the last mainline diesel purchased by NZR and its successors. 20 arrived during the late '70's and were able to MU with English Electric loco's. A further 10 arrived early '80's without the additional MU gear. All 30 were later turbo'd and some fitted with GE BrightStar.
