It Lives!

Here is British Columbia Railway GF6C 6001 at Tumbler Siding B.C. on Nov. 29, 1983. It had just arrived from EMD, being towed in the night before by diesels. Just as I got there, they raised the pantograph for the first time on home rails. The blowers kicked in and it was alive! Sadly, now it sits in Prince George with its six mates, wornout and unwanted. But sorely missed by all who saw them working.
Nice shot, Ross. Hope to see more of your stuff....Earl

Good picture - Sad to think that the six electrics may be on their way for possible scrapping in the next month. Good photo caption - looking forward to seeing some more of your pictures. I'm at the 'other end' of the BCR system....(SQ sub)

Hey, maybe someday they'll actually electrify some western mainline freight routes here in the US (or Canada). It does have its merits.

Nice Picture Ross. They have just arrived at Brownsville heading south on BNSF.

Well! Does this mean that they are wanted by someone after all?!! Does anyone know why and where? Life is so full of surprises

They are going to be stored at CEECO in Tacoma while the lessor looks for a buyer. 25,000 US each. One would probably look pretty sharp in your back yard.

Geez, if they had only told me before they hauled it away to Tacoma! Prince George was a lot closer!!

Great shot Ross. Good news about the 6001, it has been purchased by the Prince George Railway Museum and will be making the trip back sometime in the near future.
