East Portal Cascade tunnel a five engine stack train stops out side after making it up the 1.8% grade in the tunnel with only two locs running and are restarting the dead three units odd as it is one is a tunnel motor, they got two running and pulled out of tunnel and on down to Berne siding

Interesting. Looks like the rear three units are SD45-2, SD45T-2, SD40-2. What was on the point? Although this is in the Cascades it's strangely reminiscent of Tehachapi in the 80's with all those ATSF and SP units.

Probably a Dash-9. BNSF is a little smarter than that. I like those kinds of consists that have to go over mountains. You can hear those trains climbing for miles!

On point was a SD40-2S,we took shots of this going into tunnel at Scenic and took off over the pass to get it coming out thinking we could beat it ,well at east portal we waited and waited the noise of the fans at full blast and doors close we knew somthing wasnt right when the door open you could hear the roar and groan off open nocth 8 that must have shook the mountain with doors closed about 15 minutes later out in the daylight and fresh air pops this train steam rolling out smoke everwhere quite a site, they did limp into Wenachee after this thanks to a good crew.
