According to the June 1965 edition of The Official Guide, this was Train #1, "The Limited, Air-conditioned Diesel-Electric" service daily to St. Louis, departing Chicago at 11:15 AM, arriving in Joliet at 11:55, arriving at St. Louis at 4:43 PM. It's counterpart, Train #4, the northbound "The Limited" departed St. Louis at 3:40 PM, and the two trains met daily at Granite City. The following was also advertised on page 412 of The Offical Guide:

"All Parlor Lounge Cars Trains 1-2-3 and 4 are owned and operated by the G.M.& O.R.R.

All through Gulf Mobile & Ohio trains are air-conditioned and diesel-electric powered.

Dining - Lounge Car, Reclining Seat Coaches

The GM&O also hosted two other daily trains to St. Louis; "The Abraham Lincoln", and, of course, "The Midnight Special".
Built as Alton 102 in March 1945 (c/n 2003) on EMD Order E544A, it was one of four E7's built for the Alton on that shop order (No.'s 102, 102A, 103, 103A).

This unit was wrecked at Ocuya, Illinois in August 1971 and scrapped at Jackson, Mississippi.
