Frozen trash

On a frigid afternoon, the northbound Napa Valley trash train blows some snow.
Built 3-1966 as SP 8342; on 8-7-1982 the 8342 went through Espee's GRIP program.

The SP began a large scale program to rebuilt its many locomotives called the GRIP (General Rehabilitation and Improvement Program) in 1970. It encompassed many models of locomotives, one of the last of which was the SD40. A total of 86 SD40's went through the program being rebuilt at Sacramento, CA:
