This locomotive has a very interesting history, its too bad the Consolidation 2-8-0 is usually in the shadow of Mountain class CN 6060 4-8-2 running excursions. Alberta Prairie Railway #41 started life in 1920 working for Johnsboro, Lake City & Eastern. In 1924 the railroad was taken over by Frisco, with the engine being re-numbered 77. He was then sold to the Mississippian Railway, then to North Alabama Railroad Club and the Magnolia State Railroad Museum before coming to Stettler in 1989 as Central Western #9. In 1990 he got his original number back along with Canadian Northern paint, grossly inaccurate for this southerner, even though it matches the terrain Alberta Prairie runs on an old Canadian Northern Calgary Edmonton branch (CNor - CN - CWR - Railink - RailAmerica - abandonment).
