Nice photo, I would like to know more. Are steam locomotives still operating in China in 2007?

Also, from an American standpoint, the gentleman in the foreground is violating a standard safety procedure, NEVER stand on the rail. It is slippery, and I was warned about this early on by a train crew when I first started taking railroad photos.

While I agree with you, the danger from the molten slag is far greater.

Other countries have differing rules.

In 1999 when I asked how close I could stand at this very location. I was told "as close as you want to" It is your responsibility not ours.......

Man, how I wish we Americans could go back to common sense and personal responsibility... I won't even go into the decline of our industrial base.
