CP SD40-2 6023 leads train 563-12 towads Nelson, BC near Troup at mile 132.3 on the Nelson subdivision. Troup is the former junction of the Burlington Northern's Nelson line, formerly the Great Northern. Now this line is operated as an "internal shortline" under the name of the Kootenay Valley Railway to serve TechCominco's giant smelter in Trail, BC as well as the Celgar pulp mill and the Pope & Talbot sawmill in Castlegar, BC. Some smaller customers are served as well, such as the Columbia Brewery in Creston, BC.
