Cool in the snowshed

A group of attendees at "GN days - Skykomish" on 8/14/2010 escapes the August heat inside of the snowshed at Wellington WA.

This shed was constructed in summer/fall 1910 after the disastrous and deadly avalanche hit Wellington on 3/1/1910. This line was abandoned by the Great Northern in 1929 when the 7.9 mile Cascade tunnel was opened.
