You're right William about the soft focus. I think it's more about the scan res than the original image quality. Back then I was shooting with a 28-50 lens that was usually dead on for focus. Of course, the shutter speed may have been off just a bit. Many of these images will get reposted eventually when I've either rescanned them or run them through the Corel program I have.

I have some photos that are a bit blurry as well. I use adobe photoshop & sharpen the image usually just 1 time, if you sharpen more than 1 time it gets too pixelated

Right you are. One pass through sharpen is usually enough. In Corel Paint Shop Pro, I use a feature called "Clarify" which really does a nice job of balancing the lighting throughout an image.

I have to agree, a 10. It's one of those pictures that strikes me for many reasons. The sky, snow capped mountains and of course the subject.
