If its a slug why does it have a cab and 6 axles?

Russian, These slugs have six axles because they were rebuilt from six-axle power (BN SD9s). It is very unusual to see slugs with cabs. One source states that they are there to provide a quieter ride for the engineer (since they're away from the engine noise of the mated locomotive). I think its just as likely that the cab is there so the slug-loco combo doesn't have to be turned.

BTW, thanks for the rating.

That's a resonable reason. As for 6 axles, I thought that slugs ussually had 4 (althou they were rebuilt GP9's), oh well, I could be wrong.
Just curious, since I've photographed 3 slugs in my life.
