Looking back towards the sun late in the morning, a distant ridgeline is cast in bluish light. A classic B&O signal stands triumphantly against the ridge as a westbound intermodal approaches. This is deep in the Potomac River Valley of northeastern West Virginia, at the railroad location of Hansrote.
