The Railroad Museum of New England hosted several "Railfan's Days" on it's Naugatuck Railroad a few years ago. As the only railroad in the U.S. to traverse the face of a dam, in this case the Thomaston (CT) flood control dam, constructed in 1960 after the (in)famous flood of 1955, the location was popular for photo shoots. The happy faces give no indication of what was just over the horizon....as the date this photo was taken is Sept. 9, 2001.
