I managed to find and chase Tasrail freighter number 35 heading south from Burnie. You see it here wandering across the birdge at Ulverstone. When Australian National went belly up in 1997, the Tasrail section of AN was sold to ATN (Australian Tranzrail network). Hence the Wisconsin Central influence seen in the locomotive livery. "Ed" having acquired the Kiwi Tranzrail a couple years earlier.
Naturally, "Ed" liked EMD, so there was an influx of two stroke things onto the "apple isle". The lead unit of this train being one of the ex Queensland Railway 1502 class sold to Tranzrail and rebuilt at the Hutt workshops. These units then finding their way across to Tassy (the apple isle). Yeh, it does get confusing. But, it is all narrow gauge, so what the heck.
