"American Railfan" leads freight

RI 4310, named the "American Railfan", leads a freight train #56 eastbound at Bennett, CO on Feb 17, 1979.
Great side view at speed!! It was so hard to get a good pic of the blue units when new!!! Excellent shot!! Long live the ROCK!!!
I like the way the blue on the locomotive blends with the blue in the sky. Two struggling railroads were falling to pieces in the 1970s and painted their locomotives blue. One survived. One didn't. Here's to the one that didn't. God rest your soul, Rock Island, you were once a "might good line", indeed.
