Abandoned Cowichan Sub

Abandoned Cowichan Subdivision at mile 59.5 in the Cowichan Valley, about a mile west of the old yard at Deerholme(Glenora). The last train on this line ran in April of 1988. The ROW running to the right is an old Ballast Pit Spur. CN used it for storage in later years, several fire cars were kept here.

CN had a handful of GMD-1's assigned to this operation, three units were left by the end. One unit in Victoria and two based at Deerholme. GMD-1 1002 made the last run in April of 1988, with only two loads from the sawmill in Youbou. GMD-1 1070 made the last run on CN's Vancouver Island trackage in January of 1990. The remaining trackage was removed a few weeks later.
