Four railmotors of the 400 class were built for the NSWR at the Eveleigh Carriage Works. They originally had two Leyland 112 kw petrol engines. Number 402 was allocated to Narrandera in NSW. The units were withdrawn from service in 1983. HPC 402 is preserved by the Rail Motor museum society. The unit was on loan to State Rail for radio equipment testing. I spotted this unit languishing in Lithgow depot on tuesday.
