Can anyone tell me.
These locomotives (2--4-4-2) were connected in three units and were driven by side rods from electric motors located at both ends of the chassis of each unit. The side rod main driver was attached to large geared wheels at both ends that drove the 4 drivers on each stage like a steam locomotive.
In pictures, I have been able to see only one side.
Question.
Are the driving maim rods quartered 90° on the gears like a steam locomotive or 180° as a normal gear driven mechanism.
My thoughts are that it should be 90° because the locomotive could move forward or backward and cause the driven rods to reverse if they were mounted at 180° on the gear plates.
