Hello purchased this 2008 - 2500 4x4 suburban hi - rail on 10/13/2023 from state of Wisconsin after retired from service for six months with 108,752 miles .
Planning of running on rail with the Narcoa motorcar group in future .
Truck will be mechanically inspected and cosmetically gone over along with the required FRA hi-rail gear certification in the months to come .
Stay tuned for updates as work progresses .
Also looking for a place or group where private owners of hi-rails can chat and share photos.

Maintenance (in the) Way would probably be the best spot for hirail equipment owners to post regarding their equipment. There is a forum for that here.

Hi-rail update , vehicle mechanical work complete along with four new tires , new headlight assemblies , newly painted wheels and new twoway radio .

Heads to body shop for new custom front bumper to accommodate hi-rail gear and add front hitch assembly , small strobe light to be removed and any cosmetic work truck may need inside and out to be done .
Truck came with a full size led light bar and twoway radio antenna which will be reinstalled after cosmetic work complete .
Then the final step to be done will be the hi-rail gear FRA certification for rail travel .
