Contrary to most recent Cascades consists, power was at the north end of this train. And while the usual ex-F40 non-powered cab units are eerily silent except for the sound of the wheels, the new cab car's generator is almost as loud as a powered locomotive.

The new trainsets can also be spotted by the high-mounted windows in the Bistro car. Passengers can actually see outside while standing in line at the Bistro counter.

Does have a more 'European' look and matches up much better to the rest of the trainset than the former f40 cab units. I almost expected to see buffer posts. I guess the cab won't be nearly as quiet, eh? Look forward to spotting it here in Auburn.

I saw one for the second time today at Tenino, but was going away from me so I couldn't get a good shot.
I still don't understand how the unions signed off on a cab this low to the tracks...

Just caught one on a side road off the I-5 exit just north of the Toutle River. This had some kind of white Portland promo wrap on the third car, it went by too fast to get a good shot of it.
Gads, it never stops being ugly... :(
