Due highway interchanges being rebuilt the railroad tracks on the south side of Council Bluffs have changed a bunch. Some pictures of the construction show new tracks and and long standing CB&Q tracks being torn up.
Looking NW the new BNSF connects with the old "main Line
Looking straight west the old main is cut off. There used to be a yard here too 30 years ago.
Looking SE the MILW in the middle and right and the IAIS(RI). I think that's the Bayard train
The CB&Q crossing is now gone and I am sure both RR's are happy they don't have to stop there anymore
The new tracks allow the BNSF access to the old Milw yard without going all the way to the UP transfer yard.
Looking north toward where the CB&Q station used to be tracks are being removed.
A general look NW from the old CGW engine house. Tracks seem to combine. There is probably more clean up to finalize
The BNSF train came to the UP/IAIS crossing at 15th St and waited for a UP train coming south on the 12th St Line
This is the first time I have seen a UP train turn off the 12th St line here and head for the UP yard rather than going into the yard on the south.
Some from today. If you played 8 card poker these UP Locos would give you a full house. The IAIS road power came in while a KCS grainer waited and the 721 was ready to sort the train.

And then the sun set
Thanks for the update Tom, lots of changes over there.
Crazy to see all the changes over there. All the new track seems to be really top notch!
