A northbound UP manifest drops down the UP's Cascade line and is nicely framed by this SP signal bridge. Dispatcher 68 was nice enough to send us three freights (and Amtrak) down the hill in rapid succession into this beautiful morning light. The rest of the day was a bust, though.
Southbound Amtrak #11 charges uphill towards Cascade Summit, OR, at Wicopee. It had just had to come to a stop one siding back at Heather in order for the crew to restart a shutdown trailing unit due to an overheating condition. I'm sure they are wondering here if they will make it to the top of...
SD70M 4845 leads a Northbound baretable train past a water spout near the North switch at Wicopee. The water spout and nearby tower still had water flowing through them, so it appears that the water spout is still usable.
UP 5333 leads two other C45ACCTE's "elephant style" on a Northbound manifest train at Wicopee siding on UP's Cascade Crossing. The SP signal bridge will be replaced at some point in the future, part of UP's re-signaling project in Western Oregon.
