One of my favorite things about AMTRAK, is all the cute SW1000s, MP15s and other engines used for switching at major terminals.
Unfortunately the massive Chicago complex uses two GATX GP38-2s, commonly found on numerous shortilines & industrials throughout North America.

Identical sister units 2674, 2683, 2686 & 2687 were utilized on the Meadow Lake branch prior to its demise. I even spotted them on the HBR in the Pas this summer, but didn't bother getting #s down or taking pictures as I've already seen him & sister 2135 in Denver working on the UP.

An old CN unit, former GTW 6417 leads a colorful lash-up. I caught his twin GTW 6425 along with a slug coming off the HBR in Winnipeg back in 2004: http://www.railroadforums.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=16215
The 15s aren't bad either.
None of these engines are UP originals. From top to...
