Lately both CN & CP have been taking the 'WX' out of the government owned hopper fleet, i.e. CPWX simply becomes CP as the patch on this hopper clearly shows. Of the 30 on this train I'd say about 1/4 were patched.

CN doesn't like to run molten Sulphur unit trains, preferring to stick a cut of 30-40 tankers on a manifest such as 346. Then again I have seen it once last year. The train was almost always parked @ CN's Fort Route yard (Winnipeg) when I railfanned there in 2003-05.
This however is either...
Now that CP is once again leasing CEFX SD90MAC's, they have become somewhat common, leading 454 solo in this case. Normally this is a SD40-2 trio train, with CEFX SD90MAC's appearing exclusively on potash trains once a month or so.
CEFX sure didn't spend a fortune decalling this unit, aside...

CP 454 normally leaves Saskatoon around noon or 8pm. Today however he decided to go for 5:30pm, not a good time variance if you try to catch it like I do. The power is CP 5984-9111-5712, in three distinct CP paint shemes: Action red, beaver & dual-flags. It's odd that the units are all...
I've always been a fan of SD40-2F's as they are unique for a number of reasons. For starters they are the last SD40-2's and the only locomotives on CP with a draper body, which is really a CN thing. Now I know that CP 9300 behind it is much more intersting, but I always enjoy seing a SD40-2F...
CP 454 (E/B manifest+IMS, Sutherland-Winnipeg) is by far my favorite train on the CP PNL. Why? It fits my objective criterea:
1. Good timing, daily and always around noon
2. Good consist, lots of cars, a real good junk train - hoppers, gondolas, cente-beams, tankers, boxcars, platforms...
