    Crossing arm/light activation

    I was told that the "shunt" in the rail is what causes the gates/lights to activate and speed is determined by how fast the axles are passing over the shunt in the rail. Not sure how true that is. I'll have to ask our signal maintainer if I ever see

    Getting hired by NS

    Money is good with BNSF. Different areas make different amounts of money. I made almost 90K last year, but I never laid off and worked my arse off :D I doubt there is a big difference in pay between railroads since union contracts kinda dictate the pay.

    BNSF storm damage

    Wow that was pretty bad. :eek: I work on the Casper Subdivision, and we had a flood just south of Laurel at Silesia MT. I was on the last train through before it flooded out. Ended up being stuck in Laurel for almost 40 hours, since they would not deadhead us home :rolleyes: That's ok though...

    No pics yet, what with the no electronics allowed on duty rules :( Where is Colstrip exactly? Out of Greybull we run North to Laurel, and South to Casper, plus we have our Cody local the runs from Cody over to Frannie.
