There weren't any alarms on the headend as this wasn't the unit that was linked to locotrol, we just noticed it smoking like this looking back. I believe the unit was back on the road in short order as this would have been an easy repair for shop forces, just throw in a new turbo and away she goes.
CP 8526 suffers a blown turbo near mile 25 on the Fording River sub. You wouldn't know it but the unit is in no more than throttle 1 as the engineer pulls it up to where I am standing so I can shut it down. This is a quick shot from my cell phone camera.
Southbound empty Herzog ballast train along Lake Windermere on CP's Windermere subdivision near Invermere, British Columbia. The train will be loaded at Swansea at mile 9 on the Moyie subdivision west of Cranbrook, BC.

Work train power heading back to Cranbrook, BC with a caboose in tow southbound just north of Wasa on the Windermere subdivision. We had left our train of loaded air dumps in the back track at Torrent at mile 27.
