After making a quick stop for an eastbound grain train, the NRHS convention's Western Star steam special steamed west out of Skamania, WA. The 17-car train was headed up by SP 4449 and SP&S 700 in an unprecidented long distance double-header between Portland, OR and Wishram, WA. The 700 led the eastbound trip to Wishram, while the 4449 headed up the train on its way back to Portland.
