From a rainy day last winter

Eh, I actually enjoy summer, just not the several 100 plus days we get. It will be raining again soon enough. Can't believe it's already August next week!
A surprisingly small set of power for what was a pretty long train. No DPUs either. I'm guessing it just came from Stockton, a pretty short haul.

Another shot of the 8 engined UPS train
Is it my imagination, or are some BNSF trains getting more diesels? I have noticed some trains up here with lots of power, such as 6-7 units, on the head end.

Well it has kind of always been the case here. I live at the end of the line for this part of the BNSF, so the Z trains always arrive with 5 engines per train, so I think they end up with a lot of surplus power at the Richmond yard that they have to send back east (or north or south) where it is needed.
Thanks Brad!

I see them up here as well. I think they are antennae that used to be covered up with the white plastic that looked like skylights.
A pair of well used six axles running light to the Oakland yard for servicing. These two spend their days switching at the auto loading facilities up at Benicia
