Good shots. I didn't know Siemens had a loco factory in Sacramento.

It's the same one they use to build LRVs for North American customers; Siemens upgraded it to handle locomotive production a few years ago.

Thanks! They are running forward. The FRED is placed on the front coupler for the conductor to easily grab when they reach the waiting train. The engines will stop at the rear of the set out cars, the conductor exits the front of the consist, grabs the FRED and attaches it to the rear of the waiting train.

This is not a mistake from the paintshop. Apparantly they have to wait to retire or renumber a different unit to call it "BNSF" 200, so for now, the BN lives!

Too bad you tore the "BNSF" decal while you were painting and detailing this new engine for your home model railroad layout.

I remember seeing those units in ABA lashups leading hot shot freights into Chicago when they were brand new back in the late 80's-early 90's.

Apparently they share a number with an existing unit, so they have to number it under BN until they renumber the other unit.

The one I saw a photo of here, the "BN" was centered on the swoosh so they would need all four new letters when it gets converted. Probably a good thing so they will be matching.
