After arrival of almost an hour delayed EC 146 "Transilvania" Cluj - Vienna at Budapest Keleti at 3 p.m. We had to navigate construction works on the way and picked up 7 hours delayed through sleeping Ukrainian cars from Kyiv at Püspökladány, which now stayed at Budapest instead of continuing to Vienna as scheduled.
A TRAXX electric engine with an additional coach was added to the train by a class M44 diesel shunter.
EuroCity chase by Railjet: I had taken punctual Railjet Express 68 to Munich from Budapest instead of "Transilvania". The EuroCity followed within a few minutes - the Railjet was caught again at border station Hegyeshalom. 480.024 had lowered its pantograph for the change from 25 to 15 kV AC.
Now it was the Railjet's turn to wait as its counterpart from Munich was delayed 2 hours and the staff for the return trip simply was missing.
Lastly, "Transilvania" overtook the Railjet...

I had spotted a nice sunflower field near Gramatneusiedl from the train, so the next pretty morning was used for a photo session.
Regiojet 1031 Prague - Budapest in fitting colours at 10:54 a.m.
EC 143 "Transilvania" to Cluj three minutes later formed exclusively of MÁV coaches.
Punctual UZ sleeping cars from Kyiv with EC 140 "Hortobágy" Chop - Vienna passing through Gramatneusiedl station.

EuroNight 1276 "Adriatic Express" Rijeka - Warsaw arriving early morning at Vienna Westbahnhof. Schönbrunn castle park with Gloriette on the hill can be seen to the left.

We went on a city trip to Ulm and Munich. We stayed at Motel One featuring nice Ulm Minster views - 1890-2025 the tallest church tower in Europe at 161.53 metres, now overtaken by the Sagrada Familia Torre de Jesucristo at 172.5 m. Ulm Minster took even longer to build, 1377 - 1543 when funds ran out - construction started again in the industrial age 1844 - 1890.

We continued to Munich from the main station late morning.
Both ÖBB Railjet generations still cannot be encountered at Vienna main station but they can at Munich main station...

101 057 pushing "München-Nürnberg-Express" RE 59088 at Hackerbrücke, replacing a Škoda set.
I met friends Thursday at noon, we took the S1 to Pulling. We are about to encounter RE 2 Munich - Hof frequently during this series.
After arrival at Pulling: S1 sets are split up at Neufahrn on the way to the airport.
Another "Job Loco" - 146 247 - with twenty minutes delayed RE 2 4861 Hof - Munich. The historically important city of Freising in the background, some cranes have been removed:

ÜFEX ("Überregionaler Flughafenexpress" - "Supraregional Airport Express") with first spring flowers.
Another friend picked us up in his car, we drove to some ponds on the other side of the village.
The international connection on this line soon showed up: alex RE/EC 361 "Bavorský expres" Munich main station - Regensburg - Schwandorf - Plzeň - Prague main station. The white/blue striped Condor Airbus A330neo flew by a minute later...
We passed Freising and captured EC/RE 358 "Bavorský expres" Prague - Munich near Schmidhausen.
An eastbound freight at Langenbach.
We parked the car outside the village towards Thonstetten. RE 2 4863 Hof - Munich raced past - driving trailers were not used on this connection.

The company Bögl at Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz produces concrete tubbings for the Brenner base tunnel.
Dark blue 223 081 with weekday-only RE 79861 Munich - Regensburg in front of recently abandoned Zolling power station.
EC/RE 356 "Bavorský expres" Prague - Munich.
The sun appeared fully by the end of the session.
A quick stop at Schmidhausen for RE/EC 363 "Bavorský expres" Munich - Prague (last four are through coaches from Schwandorf as RE 79863 to Hof).
Good night kiss on top of the Hacker bridge.

I rose very early and spotted something unusual for Munich main station: Schienen Güter Logistik (SGL) V 150.01 (ex DR 110 961):
RE 2 4852 to Hof departing at 5:44 a.m.
I took the S-Bahn to Hirschgarten.
Flixtrain headquarters at 5:56 and 6:43 in the morning (the lights went out at sunrise)...
The sunrise was spectacular due to the fog, as even an S-Bahn driver pointed out to me. The sun disc remained for half an hour.
RB 59440 Garmisch-Partenkirchen - München Hbf (arr 6:19) passing the foggy sun.
I knew from accounts that class 420s still were operating on another line as S20 services - with this S2 to Dachau I had to look against the sunlight and react quickly.
Suddenly, the fog became much denser. RB 59447 to Garmisch-Partenkirchen with class 111 t&t racing another train.
101 057 still hauling the "München-Nürnberg-Express".
RE 353 to Prague - departing München Hbf at 6:44 - with an Arverio (owned by ÖBB) unit.
