Winner - Suisun Bay Bridge

Late one afternoon in August 2007, a monster Newark-Roseville manifest attempted to cross the Suisun Bay Bridge out of Martinez, California, with 172 cars. While his two motors were somehow up to the task, he went into emergency just before reaching the northern shore. This left his brakeman to spend over two hours walking the train, a good portion of it on the 5600-foot-long bridge, the longest double-track railroad bridge west of the Mississippi. Beyond, Caltrans' latest creation stood empty, two days before entering service carrying the northbound lanes of Interstate 680 over the mouth of the delta.
