I was shocked to find a local connection with this great SP SD9. After retirement he was sold to OmniTRAX in 1993, who in turn gathered their SD9s in Prince Albert (the remaining three, including sister ex-SP 5461 are now stored in the Pas). Word is they never turned a wheel on either CTRW or HBR. Interestingly this unit was leased to Northwestern Pacific from 1968 to 1970. The museum purchased him in 2003, turning the engine operational two years later.
Note the Oakland Terminal Railway 101, Baldwin DS-4-4-1000 parked behind him, purchased new by the port in 1948, retired 1989, acquitted by the museum a year later. Sadly still stored serviceable, albeit in original condition!
