On the Beach

Neville Shutte's story under this title was about the end of the world on account of nuclear war. Mine is less grand, merely the destruction of the Milwaukee Road, by inches. But the emotions raised by this saga never seem to fade. The hustle and bustle of working for the Big Nothing must have hidden it deeply somewhere, because all these years later these pix bring it all back to life.

Regarding Milwaukee Road operations in Eastern Washington, and around Spokane in specific, I have no personal knowledge, I was "imbedded" (to coin a phrase) on the wet side of things (except of course Othello and west). The discussion I have read on this thread about Spokane appears exceeding well informed and I hope it continues.
